Script writing competition

The competition is aimed at finding short scripts that will be produced as part of the National Youth Film & Animation School which takes place in August 2020. This competition is aimed at 16 -25 year olds and looks to mentor young screenwriters in producing short film scripts that will be shot as part of the summer programme. Selected candidates will be mentored with a series of scriptwriting workshops by an industry professional who will help them craft, shape and redraft their scripts for the big screen. Winners will receive €100 and the writing credit on the finished short film produced as part of the NYFAS. The National Youth Film & Animation School non-profit and is funded by Screen Ireland and aims to give first time young screenwriters the opportunity to get a writing credit with Ireland’s film funding body. Four short scripts will be selected as part of the screenwriting competition and the deadline for submission is March 31st 2020. This is a fantastic family friendly show. Tickets for the evening shows at 7.30 can be booked at the Dunamaise Theatre Box office. The show is entertaining and extremely funny and a wonderful collaboration between our talented boys and some experienced ladies from SCR. Our thanks to Eadaoin O’Connell producer, Karen Hackett, director and Lea Carroll , choreographer.

As part of Wellbeing Week transition year students are filming the crowd scenes of the School Anthem’s music video on Thursday 27th Feb at 1.30 in the resource area. If you are interested in taking part please give your name to Ms Quinlan by 11.15 on Thursday. Wear school uniform and if you have a silly wig or headgear please bring it along. The school Anthem will also be launched on Thursday!

A major part of taking care of your Wellbeing is eating healthy. To raise awareness of this Ms. Murphy in the Home Ec department is again running the CBS Masterchef competition. The competition is open to both students and staff. Anyone who is interested in entering the competition should submit a recipe to Ms. Murphy before Friday and see the posters around the school for more details!

Yesterday as part of wellbeing week Ms. Buckley ran a meditation and mindfulness workshop at lunchtime while the school musical cast performed a flash mob in the resource area for the junior years. The musical opens in the Dunamaise theatre next Tuesday and Wednesday. Tickets can be purchased directly from the theatre.

1st year basketball game this Thursday. All players are to meet their coach at 10.20 in the GPA. No student must leave the school by themselves. All first years are due back to class by 12.20 2nd year basketball game this Thursday. All players to meet at the GPA at 11.30 and will sign out of school and walk to the hall with team captain David Harrington. All player due back to school for 1.30. Table officials for 1st year game: David Harrington, Jack Byrne and Conor Raggett- please leave school with first years Table officials for 2nd year game: Cillian o Connell, Paddy Fitzpatrick & Tony Walsh (due back with 2nd years at 1.30 Any player who leaves GPA without signing out or without trainer or doesn’t return straight to class after games will not be allowed play the next game and get a Friday Detention.
