Before the closure last week, all our students were updated on their login and passwords for Microsoft 365 so that they could continue their studies from home. Teachers will be posting assignments, resources etc throughout this closure in order to keep our students up to date with their courses. This is for all school years, not just the 3rd and 6th years. Please remind your son to sign into his Microsoft account or whatever other apps, his teachers normally post work to. This closure will more than likely last until April 20th, the day we were meant to return from Easter Holidays. All schools across the country are doing online studies, and it is not enough to presume that exams will be cancelled or that curriculum will be deleted. Remote and online studies is now here to stay, similar to remote working from home, which many parents are currently doing. Our school is very tech-savvy and most of our students are too. This is now the time to use the free time to become more familiar with online working. If anyone has any problems signing in, they can email Mr Cahillane: pcahillane@portlaoisecbs,com . Thank you and stay well. MM

Unfortunately the 1st year rugby suffered defeat today at the hands of Newbridge College. Despite coming up against a powerful Newbridge side the lads performed amazingly and showed exceptional heart, never hanging their heads and fighting every play of the game. Well done to George Okpara who got man of the match for his performance on the day and his significant contribution to the game.

Congratulations to our first year basketball team who booked their place in the regional final today by beating De La Salle Waterford 38-25. The lads got off to a flying start leading the first quarter 15-2 this set the tone for the game and Waterford were always playing catch up! The boys are still unbeaten this year but by no means favorites going into the regional final on Wednesday next week! Hopefully our second years can book their place in the final tomorrow against a very tough opposition in Ballymahon. Top scores from today Paddy Fitzpatrick 12 Cillian O Connell 10 Cormac Howsen 8
