The School in conjunction with a nationwide campaign will run a competition for students in every year group to highlight the importance of regular attendance.
Each Student's attendance will be monitored from the October mid-Term to the 19th of December. Any student that has 90% or more attendance rate will be entered into a draw. The prize will consist of a €50 one-for-all voucher. One prize will be allotted to each year group.
As previously mentioned poor attendance can have serious impact on a student's performance and peer relationships. Good attendance helps develop Confidence and self-Esteem.

National college Awareness week kicks off this week and the Guidance Department have organised activities for each year group in the school. Below is a flavour of some of the activities the boys will be engaging in:
-First years are going to look at 'My dream Job'. This will be done as a class based activity by the Guidance Department (at an agreed time with class teachers)
-Second Years are looking at 'Types of Careers available' -(This will be done as a class based activity by the Guidance Department at an agreed time with class teachers)
-Third Years and TY students are discussing Subject Choice and College Entry Requirements (Class based activity- GD will consult teachers with timings of events).
-Fifth years are going to a Careers Fair with Ms McEntee on Tuesday in the Dolmen in Carlow (only students who have signed up will be attending ..bus of 56 students).
-Sixth Years have a speaker from University Limerick today, the 18th at 12.18
A representative from Teagasc will be visiting the Agricultural Science class On Wednesday.
T.Y, 5th&6th Years have timetabled guidance classes where CWA will be the focus for this week and next.
Our teaching staff are getting involved by displaying their colleges on their classroom doors while also getting a conversation going about the study/career paths that students can go into from their subject!
Some of these activities will spill into next week also with AIT coming to talk with 6th years next Monday also!
It would be great to hear parents and guardians continue the ‘college conversation’ at home to help our boys think about their future subject choice, areas of work experience or options for after secondary school.
