As we head into the last few weeks of exam projects, CBA's etc, students are suddenly under pressure and want to spend hours at a time in a particular subject teacher's classroom to finish off their projects. This practice is not allowable for any student.
Secondly, no student should come into school unless they are marked present on the roll and then attend all their timetabled classes in full school uniform and shoes.
All subjects are of equal importance, and having a project date looming will not excuse full attendance in all subject classes for every student, particularly for JC & LC students . When parents write notes to allow their son to arrive in later, pick and choose which classes they wish to attend in the last few weeks, etc - this impacts negatively on learning. Continuity and planning are interrupted and the quality of teaching, reviewing and exam preparation are diminished. Full parental support is appreciated in helping your sons get the best result in ALL their subjects. Thank you for your continued support. MM

Our TY mini company need your help to promote their product-a double or triple wall mounted stand for hurls. If you have a twitter or Facebook page please-like, share or retweet @hurlstandz posts!
The boys,Simon, Marc and Noah, will represent Laois next month in the All Ireland finals of the student enterprise programme.
The boys will be at their own club house (Park Ratheniska) this Sunday at 11am selling their product.
The wall mounted hurl stand is also available from Allbooks in Portlaoise.
If there are any parents or businesses interested in purchasing or stocking the wall mounted hurl stand please make contact with elynch@portlaoisecbs.com and she will put you in contact with the group.

IMPORTANT READING FOR ALL 3RD / TY and 5th YEARS

Please return all 5th year option forms immediately
The 5th year Subject Option Forms were due back last Friday. Most came in on time. Only a dozen or so came in since Monday. At least 20 students haven't returned any form. This weekend I will be inputting the names and choices of those in 5th year to the timetable programme because the timetabling for August begins now.. It is so important that you submit the form TOMORROW or, at worst, FRIDAY.
Anyone who knows they will not be accepting their TY place should also fill out the Subject Option Sheet and submit to the office ASAP. If you know your decision, please tell us by Friday. Otherwise, Monday is decision deadline.
We are aware of the many important decisions which you have to make during these weeks, but it is now time to act on them and let the planning on our side begin.
Anyone who has thought they should repeat 5th year should come to the office tomorrow to get the Application Form. It is very important that anyone who is considering it tries very hard to impress both myself and the teachers of how hard you are working, not giving up trying, doing your homework, attending school everyday, etc. Anyone who has asked to repeat in the past will tell you that I held out until the end of May watching their progress to the very end, before saying yes. If you get the go ahead, I still expect you to work 5th year to the last day. And this will be a very small number. This is not an entitlement. Please remember this. Thank you very much.
