Incoming First Year iPads/Book Rental??

Would all parents of the incoming First Years for September 2019 please send in the form indicating whether you wish to proceed with iPads for your sons or Book Rental. Please remember that our teachers will be using our Microsoft platform throughout each school day and your son will need access to his school email and other applications from some device. IPads are not about reading the text book from the screen instead of the paper. We have moved on from that. Assessment, project work, group/team work is largely created and submitted by the use of a device (iPad). We now have our iPads ring fenced as educational devices, not social media devices, as many of you no doubt fear. They cannot download any app except what is prescribed by the school/teacher. In addition, when you receive the iPad you also get a full set of printed textbooks, so it is the best of both worlds. Once we know who is opting for iPads, we will send the information to those families about the Wriggle store, the ordering of books, etc. Please send them in by next Friday, March 29th. If you have lost this form, please ring or visit the office to get a new one. If you are buying your own textbooks and not availing of book Rental PLEASE SEND BACK FORM ANYWAY SAYING YOU ARE BUYING YOUR OWN SO WE KNOW THAT ALL ARE ACCOUNTED FOR. Thank you.

1st year Footballers to meet at Laois centre of excellence at 11.45 tomorrow, throw in is at 12.30 in O'Moore Park

Our 1st year Footballers play their final tomorrow at 12.30 in O'Moore Park in the curtain raiser to the Laois v Carlow league game. Best of luck to all involved, supporters are very welcome

Two upcoming competitions that should be of interest - 1.. Career Investigation closing date 12th of April. 2. ‘Letter Home’, a 500 word essay in a letter format to family or friends detailing a real or imaginary adventure/holiday. Closing date 17thof May. Details of both are on the notice board outside my classroom and I would encourage as many of you as possible to enter . E O’ Connell

5th year subject choice

Students going into 5th year in September 2019 received their subject choice form today. If any student was absent they can collect one from the school office. Please read the information on sheet. Students are encouraged to speak with their Parents, teachers and career guidance teachers to find out more information on the subjects they are thinking about selecting. These forms must be returned by Friday the 29th of March.
