Congrats to all who competed in this years Laois Schools Cross Country Championships held in Emo Court Demesne. Like past years our lads performed brilliantly! Special mention goes to Finn Darcy who was crowned county champion in the Minor Boys event. Finn led his team to 3rd place overall which comprised of Ryan Doyle, Alex Delaney and Ibrahim Ahmed.
With over 20 lads from the CBS entered in the Junior Boys race there was high expectation! Dawid Wajrak topped the podium winning the race in style followed by Daniel Downey in 2nd place. A strong run from James Doyle and Dinny Whelan in 12th & 13th secured 2nd team. Well done to all who competed on the day. Next up is the South Leinsters which takes place next week in Carlow! ️ #itsallgo #fromeachtheirbest

6th Year Biology students were offered the opportunity to travel to NUI Maynooth to take part in their LC Biology Practical Revision Day to help them prepare for their upcoming mock and final exams. The lads carried out 6 different experiments of those on the LC Biology syllabus. They created ethanol and tested it with the iodoform test. They extracted DNA from bananas. The carried out several experiments with enzymes as well as the photosynthesis and the plant growth regulator (IAA) experiments. They had a really full day of lab work but still had time to test themselves with the various competitions around the lab. Record holder for competition entries was Kacper Banasik with 4 entries, yet somehow Matthew Coonan managed to scoop the prize on the day out of all the schools in attendance, 120 students! The lads were gentlemen and worked incredibly well in the busy labs. They all have bright futures in STEM! #stemschool #fromeachtheirbest

Please read and consent for your son to complete this online Anti-bullying Survey here...

Our school has agreed to take part of a nationwide online survey developed by the Anti-Bullying Centre at Dublin City University in association with Webwise.
The Centre hosts the UNESCO Chair on Bullying and Cyberbullying and the Irish Research Observatory in Cyberbullying, Cyberhate and Online harassment.
What this survey is about
The research survey is about how teenagers respond when they witness or learn about someone being bullied online.
What we ask of you
We seek to invite the students of your school to participate in this research.
To that end, we very kindly ask you to make the survey link available to the parents/guardians via the school app or whatever method your school communicates with parents / guardians of your students.
The deadline for completion of the survey is Friday 27th January latest - therefore we kindly ask that the survey is made available to the parents / guardians of your students without delay.
The survey is fully automated, confidential and anonymous - upon the parent/guardian opening the survey link, they will be presented with a Plain Language Statement providing them an overview of the research survey and its objective. They will then provide their parental consent confirming their agreement for their child(ren) to participate in the research survey.
The parent/guardian will then share the survey with their child(ren).
Similarly, the child(ren) will also read the students' Plain Language Statement and provide their assent to participate in the survey - they will then complete and submit their responses online to the survey.
The above will automatically route to ourselves.
Thank you once again for your support and assistance in your school's participation in this research.
Your contribution and collaboration is invaluable.
With Very Best Wishes
Angela - DCU Anti-Bullying Centre
