Dear Parent/ Guardian,
I would just like to communicate some information regarding the annual TY Cultural Tour.
We have met with the TY students today and informed them of the following:
This year our tour will once again be to Barcelona. We will be flying to and from Cork, leaving on Thursday April 10th on an early flight, returning the following Sunday evening, the 13th.
The tour will consist of a number of activities, including trips to Montserrat, PortAventura and Barcelona itself. Some other activities include a trip to a science museum and bowling, amongst others. We have a rough itinerary in place, when this is finalised we can make it available in full. The total price for this tour will be 840 euro.
There is a huge amount of interest in this tour, and there are only 48 places available. I am looking for a definite expression of interest tomorrow Friday 18th. I will call a meeting for the students before end of day tomorrow, and if they are unable to attend for any reason they may contact me on Teams to register interest.
The names that we receive will be drawn at random, whereby 48 students will be offered a place. They will be given a link to follow- the student will need to create an account and a password. Once this is set, they will then need to pay the deposit through this. The name that the student uses MUST match that of their passport as the flight will be booked using that name.
It is essential that deposits are paid as soon as possible once this link is provided, and by Sunday evening at the latest. This is to ensure that we can secure our flights on Monday.
The remaining students will be placed on a standby list should someone decide to withdraw. The remaining cost will be split in two installments, with the final amount to be paid at the beginning of February next year.
Towards February or March next year we will also host a parents information evening in the school to provide all of the necessary information prior to the tour.
If you have any further questions or queries, feel free to get in contact.
Kind regards,
Shane Twomey
Tour co-ordinator
The alumni of Pres take great pride in the participation and accomplishments in activities of past and present students.
These range from rower Andrew O’Leary who set a new Irish record for the men's J18 half marathon on an ergometer, to Jack Carroll of 6th Year who is this year's winner of the PBC Gold Medal Essay, to second year student Conor Looney who represented Ireland in running in the junior mixed relay 4 X 1,500m, to the senior and junior rugby teams that won the double double this year, to Peter O’Mahony on captaining the Irish Rugby team to win the 2024 six nations championship, to Ronan McAuliffe (class of 2023) and English teacher, Éanna Ó Loingsigh for their work on the launch of the brilliant podcast ‘Voices of Pres, Voices of Cork’, or to Cillian Murphy who was awarded the Oscar for best actor.
All of these achievements started somewhere and the Pres. Past Pupils Union want to support and nurture the interests and dreams of all our pupils‘ diversified interests.
The Past Pupils Union is available and will endeavour to support participants of all sporting and non sporting activities where possible, even where pupils may be pursuing their interests outside of the school so please reach out to ppu@pbc-cork.ie if the Past Pupils Union can be of assistance.
Yours sincerely,
