Best of Luck to our 2022 Leaving Cert Class tomorrow morning

All Leaving Cert students will be awaiting the results of their LC Exams tomorrow morning. Whatever happens, whatever points you get, it is important to remember that you have a future ahead of you. College is not for everyone, working for a year or more, gaining experiences to help you learn your own strengths and weaknesses then deciding to follow that pathway, these are all options for everyone. People who get 550 points may not necessarily get the course they wanted, which will seem strange and almost arrogant to someone who struggled to get 350 points, but it is important to try to adopt a logical approach to whatever it is that you do get tomorrow morning. Not getting that course you think will be amazing may be the best thing that happens to you and it will not be obvious to you for some time, even years. Opportunities will present themselves to you in the next few weeks, months and years. Be awake to them. Talk to people you trust about the choices you make. Don't follow someone to Galway or Dublin because of a a friendship or relationship - the start of college life is often a time when the paths of people go in different directions and decisions which seemed great can leave you feeling let down. Make your choices based on your dreams, suitability to your family's ability to support you, how you will travel and live, and what you really want to do - not what someone expects you to become. Be brave, find your voice. And, as a parent with experience of this, if you are going to change or drop a course - know when the last date to do so is when you can still keep your fees intact for another year - or you will end up paying full fees when and if you begin again next September. Avoid this if possible. There is something for everyone in this world. You will forget what points you get in a few years as you will have gained so much experience, strength and confidence by then. The secret is to keep going, don't let one or two obstacles stop you. Have a good life lads!

Staff Car Park is not a drop off area

Good morning parents, please note that parents are not to drive into the staff car park to drop off their sons. The barrier will be manned by Sodexo from this afternoon. This morning was a disaster, parent's cars stopped in the middle of the driving lane, discussions being had between parents and son, doors opening up randomly, one person stopped (after their son had already gone into school) behind cars blocking several parking spaces, and it is the same each year. From a health and safety point of view, a door opening unexpectedly from a stopped car is dangerous. Students alighting unexpectedly is an accident waiting to happen. Your cooperation is appreciated.

The Wearing of Uniform PE Half Zips and Black Tracksuit Bottoms

This is how we will begin our year - anyone who has PE, should wear their PE gear (uniform one) into school and stay in it until you go home at 4pm,. This will save a lot of time changing as the class is only an hour. If students begin to wear it on days they don't have PE, taking advantage of the situation, we will have to look at it again, and possibly require that the grey and black uniform with the wool jumper be worn in and home and the PE gear brought only tfor the PE class itself. That was the reason we made that change last year, as students were taking advantage. But hopefully students will respect our request this year, for the good of everyone. The only downside to this is that tracksuit bottoms, socks and runners can be drowned and t-shirts sweaty. Use common sense, have a change in your bags to change into at the first opportunity so that you are not sitting in wet mucky clothes and runners, nor are you sweaty and smelly. Seniors doing the LC PE course, with an exam at the end of it, are not running around and spend time in the classroom as well. Their teacher will select the day for them to wear the PE gear and that is all they will wear it in addition to the normal PE which everyone does. Otherwise, Seniors could be in PE gear 4 of the 5 days a week. Thank you.
