Our LC and JC Exams began this morning without incident, thank God. But none of us ever know what is around the corner - whether to ourselves or to a close family member. In the event of either a Close Family Bereavement or Serious Medical Condition occurring for your son, the SEC Circular below, S34/22, provides detailed information about the criteria, application for deferred exams, limitations, supports, eligibility and dates of the exams themselves. If, God forbid, your son finds himself in this situation please read this circular very carefully to inform you of what is possible or not. An Addendum to this SEC Circular, 34/22, provides additional information more related to absences related to contracting Covid-19. Please find this below. Hopefully your son's exams will pass by without incident or worry, but at least you can see there is are procedures to follow. I have also posted an extract from the 2022 LC Candidate Information Guide about deferred exams in the following notification.

Daniel Downey just made the podium in the All Ireland Finals! Warm but windy conditions didn't stop Dan taking the 800m race on. Leading from the front and breaking up the pack, Dan took on a quick pace for the first lap. Holding strong he finished in a brilliant 3rd place in a pb time of 2mins 8secs. What an end to his first year in the CBS. Well done Daniel! #proud #fromeachtheirbest

Earlier this year we opened the above competition to students and staff in a move to create a school crest which better represented what the CBS Portlaoise is about-our origins in Portlaoise, our values and activities. We had a prize of €200 to be shared by the main contributors to the final design. This week we presented two 5th years, Danh Culliton and Padraig Delaney, with cheques of €100 each for their contributions to the new design. It is currently with the crester and will be introduced on this App when we have the final product. Thank you to everyone who also contributed.
