Today's IT session for our 1st years was a great success. Thank you to you parents who organised for the lads to get in and to the many teachers who volunteered to assist Mr G Brennan and Mr E Dunne, our iPad and IT Coordinators. Everyone's help was appreciated. Hopefully any issues with passwords, logins and the like have been met head on and sorted before school begins. Opportunities to ask questions were provided and this will lead to a much better start to the school year experience around the use of Microsoft 365, iPads and other devices used at home and the use of emails, MS Teams etc. Familiarity with regular use in the coming weeks will make them more comfortable and competent. We look forward to tomorrow's Induction with their Meitheal leaders. Again I want to thank Ms Foley our Student Leadership Coordinator and the 6th years involved who have prepared for tomorrow during their holidays and were in here all day today getting ready. We hope you enjoy tomorrow. There will not be a Parents' Information Night this week, as all the information is on the App and the boys have been in for 2 almost full days this week. They begin to wear their uniform on Thursday and they should bring a snack for their 'small' break at 11am. There are no school buses, unless they are privately organised ones as school ends early. The first full day of school for the entire school population is Monday September 5th, (9am-4pm) The boys should bring 20 euros or else have it paid on the app beforehand (we will have a record of those who have paid). They will get their locks and journals Thursday morning. Their will get their lockers as well and can, if they wish, bring in some of their books on Thursday to put into their locker, as there are a lot of books to carry. They won't be doing any classes, there are lots of other things to be done that morning. Timetables will be given out on Thursday. On Friday, they will go to their classes. Classes are one hour each. Just bring the pen, journal and the books for that morning's timetabled classes. They may bring their iPad on Friday, but no need on Thursday. Looking forward to seeing them then.
Warning to parents about texts requesting money from your child

Today we were made aware of a text which has been sent to several parents, pretending to be their son or daughter, saying they need the parent to send them money online for school. The text actually asks the parent for the card number, and you know how that will end. Even if the parent says no, there is a follow up reply text which pushes the issue - just like the son or daughter might do. Apparently they need it to pay school, and it is for this reason that I'm bringing it to your attention. This week kids will be returning to school and it could look genuine, They need another ten euros and if the parent falls for it, the card details are provided. I hope that none of you have been caught. Take care.
