Next Tuesday the 19th December, there will be a wellbeing workshop taking place for all TY students from 9:50-1:10. The Soar Foundation create and deliver character building programs underpinned with key indicators of well-being proven to enhance quality of life and create positive adult identities.

They do this by creating a dynamic interactive environment to connect with themselves and their peers in an authentic, respectful and non-judgmental way.

This workshop has proved very popular and beneficial for past TY yeargroups.

We are absolutely thrilled to share the success of our recent ' Warmer for Winter ' Campaign for the homeless!

The generosity displayed by our students and their families and our staff has been nothing short of heartwarming.

The hundreds of coats were collected by Paddy Fryers today. Paddy took the oppportunitny to talk to some 5th year students about the campaign.

A massive thank you to everyone who contributed, whether through donations or spreading the word.

Parent and Guardian Update: Semester 2: Week 3: Friday 8 December 2023

Dear parents and guardians,

Christmas Season is upon us, students and staff are decorating classroom doors at the moments and many are looking good so far, the doors will be judged on Thursday 21 December, competition is heating up!

Semester 1 Results
All students should have received their Semester 1 results in envelopes on Friday.  Results are also online on VS WAre.  I would ask you to have conversation with your child(ren) in relation to their exams and give praise where praise is due and perhaps figure out what needs to happen where improvement is needed.
Do ensure you can access the reports on line, contact the front office or email athboycs@eircom.net.  We hope not to print future reports as we would prefer not to spend the money on printing and divert it instead to resources for our students.  Prints outs will be available on request to the office however.

Iceskating
3rd and 5th Years went to Swords iceskating this week, they had great day out, there are some natural and some staff who might need a little additional support!

Recent Events - Racism
In light of the events in Dublin a few weeks ago, our staff are being super vigilant in relation to name-calling of a racial nature between students. Staff will report any such interactions to year heads so that we can address the issue.  The most vulnerable students need to feel that as a school they are supported at a time when there is fear in our society on the part of some of our students and their families.
Do report any issues that arise to me so that we can try to educate our students to support eachother and to build resilience in them to deal with ignorance and hatred in society.  Your support in this is very important.

Behaviour Team
We had our fourth meeting this week of teachers and SNAs and our first student focus group meeting too where students contributed to their sense of .  a shared understanding of behaviour for staff and students.

Football
Not a great week weatherwise for sport, conditions were harsh and we had difficult fixtures for Richard Thompson's Junior and  Senior boys football.
Ruth Fitzgerald had the girls football team away and despite a hatrick for us, victory was not to be ours on the day.  Hard luck to all.

Charity
There are lots of charity drives ongoing, food collection for Trim Resource Centere, Hats for the Late Late Toyshow fund, coats and jackets collection for the homeless, care packs for the elderly.  We do encourage you to support these charities if you can.

Musical
Tickets are on sale for the school musical which takes place on Jan 24-27, the cost is €12.

Have a lovely weekend

Regards
Clare
