Well done to our ‘One Good School’ committee who achieved the highest level, Gold, in their work on positive mental health and wellbeing, alongside Jigsaw Navan.  The team worked very hard last year to complete a number of programmes which they delivered to the whole school. The students worked alongside Ms. Evans, Ms. O’Hare and Mr O’ Dowd. Well done to all.  Students missing from the picture: Conor Muldoon and Ethan Gilbride.

Hi. The following is a follow up on the SOAR workshop that took place on Tuesday
"We hope that your young person enjoyed the workshop today.
Sometimes these workshops can bring up emotions for people, which is normal living in this complex changing world.
We would encourage you to ask your young person about the workshop as this allows them to share the experience with you and continue building on the conversations that they had with their peers today. You can find support with this through our Toolkit for teens, parents and guardians.(PDF Attached)
If you have any questions about the workshop, please contact me or the Soar team on bookings@soar.ie ."

Parent/Guardian Update: Semester 2: Week 4: Friday 15 December 2023
Created : 15 Dec 2023, 3:05 PM
Archived : 15 Feb 2024, 12:00 AM

Dear parents and guardians,

I hope this update finds you well.  We had a very busy week in school with lots of activities.

Third Class for An Cuan
I'm delighted to have gotten confirmation from the SENO that a third class for An Cuan has been sanctioned.  It will allow us to facilitate six more students in the community with the essential support they need to manage secondary school.

Multi-cultural Day
Well done to Ruth Fitzgerald and the team of international students who displayed flags, food and language of their respective countries for all yesterday.  The first step in dealing with racism and hatred is education so this was a great initiative to kick off the work of the Student Council's Multi-cultural Team.  Thanks to all families of students who leant their support.
We had African Dance School and the Jabba Jabba Jembe Drum School in on Wednesday to teach African dance and drumming to classes, great fun was had by all.

TYs/An Cuan
TYs were iceskating today which went very well.  Students from An Cuan went to see Willy Wonka yesterday too.

Christmas Plans
All classes continue as normal next week until Thursday so classwork and homework will be as normal.
Classes will be called down to the GPA around 2.30pm on the intercom for a Christmas Reflection and Concert.
Students and staff are invited to wear Christmas jumpers etc.. on both Thur and Fri to allow TYs and LCAs to participate.
The fantastic Christmas Doors will be judged on Thursday morning, announcements will be made on Thursday at the Christmas concert.
6th Years Kris Kindle with their teachers will be organised on Thursday morning in the GPA.
1st Years will have their intercalls Christmas Carol sing off on Friday after tutorial - competition is hotting up!

Parent Code of Behaviour Meeting
I would like to invite andy parent or guardian who would like to join us in a Parent Team meeting about our new Learning Code to email their interest to me at cgarrihy@athboycs.ie

Tik Tok Account

It has come to our attention that unofficial TikTok accounts using the AthboyCS name and/or logo have been set up.  Parents/guardians/carers are asked to check their son’s/duaghter’s TikTok accounts and have these deleted if they set up the account, or unfollow as the case may be.  Please do this immediately.  The school has reported inappropriate use of the school's name on TikTok and other social media platforms.

I hope you're on top of the shopping at this stage - wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Kind regards,

Clare
