Marian's Senior Gaelic team claimed a memorable one point victory in a tense Dublin Championship final yesterday, prevailing on a score line of 1-7 to 0-9 over Templeogue College. During the first half Templeogue dominated possession but an organised and disciplined defensive effort by Marian forced their opponents to shoot a number of wides. At the other end of the field points from Paul Fox (2), Daniel Bailey, Darragh Murphy and an excellent 45 from Brandon Kinsella meant Marian College led by 0-5 to 0-3 at the break. The second half played out in a similar fashion with courageous defending added to by efficient forward play leaving Marian in a winning position coming into the final 10 minutes. Dean Fitzpatrick scored a wonderful goal followed by a point before captain Brandon Kinsella kicked another majestic point to get Marian over the line. The team now prepare for a Leinster final which will be played next week. Details of this game to follow.

It was a big week for the 2nd year basketball team as they had two wins this week. They beat St. Andrews away on Wednesday by a double figure margin in what was a tougher game than the scoreline suggested. Then on Friday the team put in their best performance of the season so far to beat the previously undefeated Colaiste Eoin team in a very close game that produced a 40-37 win for Marian. It was a huge win for the team that puts them in a great position to qualify from their group for the quarter-finals.
