On Monday 28th of September 101 and 202 attended a workshop organised by An Taisce on the theme of Energy. The workshop was facilitated by Eoin Morton from An Taisce and attended by Mr.Harding and Ms. Bird who are two of the staff members on the Marian College Green School Committee. The students enjoyed the hands-on nature of the workshop and particularly enjoyed the experiment where they had to power an LED light using copper, aluminium, lemons and electric wires. The Green School Committee would like to express their appreciation to Eoin for his wonderful presentation, To Dr. McCabe for allowing us to use his Laboratory and also to the students in 101 and 202 for their enthusiastic participation. Well done all.

There will be a meeting on Monday lunch time for all teachers interested in the Marian College App. The meeting will show you how to access the App and how to publish the material that's relevant to you, your subjects and any extra-curricular activities you are involved in.

Mr. Harding would like to thank Ms. Bird, Mr. McDonnell and all the 2nd year students on the Green Committee who participated in today's very successful school and local community Spring Clean day. We hope that students in the College will continue to help Pauline and James with the recycling project in Marian and keep our school looking great.

Ms. Kenny and Mr. Harding would like to congratulate 5th year debaters Siraj Syed, Gavin Boyne, Zahir Hryniv and Jason Andres on the wonderful debate they participated in during period 5 in room 14 today. Ms. Kenny and Mr. Harding were extremely impressed at the high quality of the arguments on both sides and hope the 1st, 2nd and 5th year students in the audience will be inspired to get involved in debating at the start of the 2015/16 academic year. The debate was judged as a draw. Well done to all involved
TEACHERS V STUDENTS ANNUAL SOCCER MATCH

Tomorrow Friday the 15th of May will see the 6th year students take on their teachers in the Annual Marian College Showpiece. The teachers take a 2-1 lead into this game after a comprehensive win at Christmas with goals from Mr Byrnes and Mr Brien. Team manager Mr O Reilly is confident of an easy win. All bar Mr Harding are declared fit who must undergo a late fitness test if he is to play any part tomorrow. Captain Mr Lindsay is also confident and he spoke of the strong bond between his players in today's Press Conference in the RTE Studios.
The students who are also the Dublin Champions will have to be at their very best to challenge the teachers tomorrow as Mr O Carroll, Mr Drumm, Mr Gaynor,Mr Lawless,Mr Byrnes,Mr O Brien,Mr Burke and the evergreen Mr Cronin are very excited about doing the double over the Students.
5th Year Geography Field Trip

The annual 5th year field trip to the Sugar Loaf took place today. The group set off from the base and climbed the 592 metres in record time - 22 minutes! At the summit the groups view was limited due to cloud cover but it didn't dampen the spirits. After a quick lunch the group descended, with many of the students commenting on the high level of scree underfoot. The field trip is a great opportunity for geography students to familiarise themselves with the leaving certificate field trip, which is worth 20% of their final geography grade.

This Wednesday the 13th of May sees our 6th year students take on their teachers in the Annual Teachers v Students Basketball match. Team Captain Mr Barry Drumm is confident of an easy victory for the Teachers.
